Meet joe
Joe Gerard is an engineer and Short North resident running for Congress. He's spent his career redesigning healthcare systems to make them safer and more effective for patients and providers. Joe has lived in Columbus long enough to remember when this was a city where you could build a life without drowning in costs. He's running to make sure our tax dollars actually work for the people who live here.

ADDRESS THE COST OF LIVING IN HOUSING and DAILY ESSENTIALS
Since 2012, Columbus rent and home prices have nearly doubled, while wages have stayed flat. Real solutions exist to address the cost to live in Central Ohio that simply aren't being implemented.

We can address housing supply by building more housing, not by cozying up to America’s largest mortgage lenders. We do this by tying federal dollars to common-sense updates in municipal codes and permitting; changes like legalizing ADUs and fast-tracking permitting for housing near jobs and transit.
We don’t need to double the housing supply, we just have to make it easy enough to move that landlords can’t increase rent 10% every year.

We can address healthcare prices by promoting competition in the market, using existing programs to offer an at-cost, baseline health plan to Ohioans.
This would be funded by money we already spend, requires no new taxes or legislation, and is an important step towards Medicare for All.

We can rein in our government waste and growing tax burden by ending widespread abuses like backdoor dealing and structural corruption in government purchasing.
We can stop funding genocides in Gaza and oil wars in Venezuala, and reverse the tax breaks that our country's wealthiest individuals and corporations currently enjoy.
We will save $30B simply by abolishing ICE.
Most importantly, we can fight more effectively to ensure Columbus sees its fair share for the $Billions in revenue we contribute each year.

IT’S TIME TO PUT NEW ADULTS IN THE ROOM
America today has no coherent direction. The President has tanked the job market, attacked our allies, and entered new forever wars over oil, all while tariffs stifle the economy. Congress remains unwilling to stand up to these abuses of power, despite masked ICE Executions and Epstein cover-ups. The Democratic Party has failed to rise to the occasion.
In Congress, I will hold members of this administration accountable for their crimes and utilize the power of our gerrymandered, super-blue seat (D+21) to aggressively oppose the Trump Agenda at every turn. It’s time we course-correct back to national ideals we can be proud of - ideals like liberty, due process, and economic opportunity, and stop settling for moderate positions in one of the most Democratic districts in the state.
